Positioner Systems

AlpinaTec has a longlasting experience in the field of positioner systems for antenna measurement systems. We have accompolished several successful projects which are outlined below.

Selected projects:

  • CNTF Facility at BAE Systems
  • Design, development and installation of all mechanical subsystems in the world’s largest outdoor cylindrical near-field test facility on the Isle of Wight in UK at BAE Systems. The subsystems comprise a vertical scanner of 29m height including a stabilized 5-axes probe platform, a stabilized 2x3m two axes laser platform, an air-tight slit-cover mechanism and a highly precise heavy duty azimuth positioner. CNTF

  • Heavy Duty Azimuth Positioning Bridge at EADS Astrium
  • Design, development and installation of a so called Azimuth-Bridge for the EADS Astrium CCR (Compensated Compact Range) in Ottobrunn, Germany. This positioner bridge consists of 4 stepper motor driven axes. The major axis performs an azimuth rotation, followed by two levelling axes and one axis for the linear slide and the counterweight system. All stepper motor axes are controlled by the AAMS software of EADS Astrium. AZ Bridge

  • Azimuth over Elevation Positioner at EADS Astrium GmbH
  • Refurbishment, esign and development of a heavy duty azimuth over elevation positioner at EADS Astrium in Ottobrunn, Germany. Several studies have been made to choose the appropriate concept to ensure highest position accuracy of 3m° (milli degrees). AZoverEL

  • Feed Positioniersystem at Kawasaki Heavy Industries
  • Design, development and delivery of a feed positioner system for an EADS Astrium Compact Range delivery to Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Japan. The subsystem comprises a two story height movable mechanical structure for the installation of the feed positioner systems. Feed

  • BAFFLE & SERAP Positioning System at the University of Applied Sciences of Munich
  • Design, development and installation of a BAFFLE & SERAP positioning system in the CCR (Compensated Compact Range) at the University of Applied Sciences of Munich. This setup features a laser-guided, rope-based vertical positioning unit, a ground mounted two-axis positioning unit and an installation platform for the DUT positioning system. The system is operated using the AlpineTec Support Axis System. Baffle

  • Plane Wave Zone Scanner at EADS Astrium GmbH
  • Design, development and delivery of a Plane Wave Zone (PWZ) Scanner for the performance verification of the world’s largest CCR (Compensated Compact Range) installed in China and delivered by EADS Astrium. The PWZ Scanner is mounted to an independent roll axis and rotated in the test zone for probing the test zone’s amplitude and phase homogeneity. The length of the PWZ scanner arm is 7.0 m and its planarity of less than 40 µm. The image on the right shows the PWZ Scanner in the “12:00 o’clock” position. The system is operated using the AlpineTec Generic Motion Controller System. PWZ
